EvE Online: My Continuing Addiction
by Zaal on Jul.31, 2009, under Eve Online
Though I’ve taken breaks from playing Eve from time to time, I always manage to come back. Part of the draw is that the game continues to challenge on a PvP level.
Having said that, I suck at PvP. Alright, that might be too strong a word; I’m very bad at it but the thrill of PvP is such a drug that I don’t feel bad at all losing ships and implants. It’s worth it. Being the hunter and the hunted at the same time. Using what knowledge you have of your ship to try and over power the other guy and his ship. Living in Deklein and being the pets of TCF, we see a lot of activity. People coming in to see if we’re worth our salt. I’m not sure if we’re there yet but we’re working on it.
I still spend a lot of time doing industry stuff: mining, building equipment, exploring space for worm holes and the like. It really is a lot of fun and for anything that might even be remotely interested in a space simulator, you’d be hard pressed to find something of equal worth.

I’ve been thinking about this topic for a while now. When I first started posting stuff up on this website my intention had been to use it as a personal whiteboard; somewhere I could post the things that were on my mind or perhaps something I’d learned in school but wanted to spend a little more time thinking about. New WordPress Version Available

After having wrestled with the installation of WordPress and ensuring it’s secure as it can be on the platform I’ve chosen to host it on, I get word that a new version has been released. Imagine my frustration at having my installation exactly the way I want it only to require an update.
It’s a security release, no less, that fixes a cross site scripting attack. So I’m torn between my laziness to upgrade the software package and my inherent geekness to have all systems I deal with as secure as possible.
I know I’ll end up upgrading shortly but I’ll procrastinate as long as I can.
First!

It’s an Internet tradition. Who am I to ignore such importance.
I have not used this site since the beginning of last year. As you may or may not know I’ve gone back to school for a technical diploma in Software Development. The first semester felt like a waste of time whereas the second required a great deal of concentration and 3 AM study sessions. A lesson well learned and remembered for the upcoming semester.
Sometime in the past week, my hosting account with TopHostingCenter.com was hacked. Not their fault at all as the password I used for this particular account was insecure. The two domains I host were defaced and some script kiddie left a message. Big whoop. No great loss. So I start again…
