Americans: Why are they so impolite?
by Zaal on Jul.22, 2010, under Life According to Zaal
Or specifically, why am I so polite?
I deal with several vendors in the States that, invariably, end up being impolite almost as a matter of course. There seems to be no way to get any form of respect over the phone. Email communications seem slightly better but, then again, everyone seems like a schmuck via text.
As an experiment, I’ve stopped using my polite business voice and have reverted to normal Zaal voice when dealing with these cretins. I’ll post more once I get an idea of how this is working. Probably end up getting better service once I revert back to being a dick.
I am a SAIT graduate!

On Thursday, May 20th 2010 I completed a long journey that has taken me 12 years to complete.
I graduated from SAIT Polytechnic with a diploma of Information Technology with a major in Software Development.
Sitting down to write this particular post, I realize that this may begin to meander; threading it’s way through the last 12 years of my life, perhaps more, I don’t really want to bore anyone. I do want the reader to understand how important this achievement was to me and what it means for my, and my wife’s, future. If you are one of those ugly, little trolls that insist on commenting “TL;DR” then I have but one thing to say to you:
Fuck Off.

Windows 7 Installation: Driver Woe
by Zaal on Feb.19, 2010, under Life According to Zaal
Some background: When XP was released, I was still using 98. I had no real reason to swap my system over to a new OS. No compelling reason anyway. It wasn’t until I was at a LAN party that someone offered up an install disc that I decided to swap over. About 2 years after release I was finally using XP. I enjoyed the OS and never looked back.
Microsoft then released the digital abortion which is Vista. Among the idiocy of different versions, driver problems galore and complaints that Vista is only XP with increased visuals and irritating security dialogs that dog your every mouse click I, and most of the business world, found ourselves choosing to stick with XP. Not a hard decision.
More inane chattering after the jump.
